Why isn't the price updating on one of my wishes?

A wish's price is captured once when you add it; ongoing automatic updates only run on tracked wishes and can pause for a few specific reasons.

Written by Wishpicks

Wishpicks captures a wish's price once, when you add it. After that the price only updates on its own while the wish is being tracked, and tracking pauses for a handful of reasons.

Why a price stops updating

  • The wish can't be tracked at all. A wish with no link, no captured price, or from a store that doesn't allow tracking (Amazon is one) never gets checked again. These show as Unavailable.

  • The store needs Wishpicks Plus. Free price tracking works on partner stores only; any other store needs Plus for ongoing updates. Without it the wish sits with tracking Off.

  • Price drop alerts are switched off. On a partner store, free tracking only runs while your account's Price drop alerts setting is on, and it's off by default.

  • You've hit the Plus tracking limit. Plus tracks up to 50 items at a time, and a new wish won't start tracking until you free up a slot.

  • The price is in a different currency. Even on a tracked wish, Wishpicks only writes a new price when the store's currency matches the one already saved on the wish. That stops a price from a different regional version of the page overwriting yours in the wrong currency.

Good to know

Stock and link checks still run on a tracked wish even when the currency doesn't match. Only the price itself waits for a matching currency.

The first price you saw is real. Capturing a price when you add a wish works on any store Wishpicks can pull details from, with no Plus needed. Plus is about the ongoing updates, price history, and custom alerts.

Price-drop alerts come by email, batched together, and never instantly or in-app. Plus gets them more often than the free tier. See "How do price-drop alerts work, and how often are prices checked?" in the Wishpicks Plus collection.

There are no back-in-stock alerts; see "Will Wishpicks tell me when a sold-out item is back in stock?"
