My link didn't import correctly — how do I add the item manually?

When a link doesn't import, the Add Wish bar offers Add it manually, which opens the new-wish form so you can type the name, price, and details yourself.

Written by Wishpicks

When Wishpicks can't pull the details out of a link, the Add Wish bar offers Add it manually. That opens the full new-wish form with your link already filled in, and you type the rest yourself.

Steps

  1. Paste the product link into the Add Wish bar as usual.

  2. If it doesn't work, you'll see a message like "We couldn't find a product at this link," with Try again and Add it manually.

  3. Try again first. It fails now and then, and a second attempt often works.

  4. If the second try fails too, the message changes to suggest a different link or adding it by hand. Choose Add it manually and the full new-wish form opens with the link already in place.

  5. Type the name and price, add a photo and any notes, then save.

Good to know

Typed a few words instead of a link? If a short search turns up nothing in the catalog, the same Add it manually option appears so you can create the wish by hand.

Pasting several links at once works a little differently. If every one of them fails, the panel offers to Add them as custom wishes, creating one wish per link with the site's name as a placeholder title you can rename. See "Can I add several products at once?"

You can put your own photo on a manual wish; see "How do I attach my own photo to a wish?"

Adding a wish to a shared wishlist needs Contributor access or higher. See "What is the difference between viewing and editing access?" in the Shared Wishlists collection.
